Fingers and paws crossed here that they can figure this out and get her back to the happy wiggly butt dog that she is. I am sure once they figure it out she will be on her road to recovery. I hope the biopsies nail it down fast.

Your welcome, how is the baby? Big I bet. Post a pic and try not to worry too much, Briggs knows when you are upset and she is miserable enough she does not need to worry about you too.

Well wishes to Briggs from here too! When I first joined the forum 2 years ago I admired the photos of Briggs and the banter with Luba and Sadie. I'm so sorry she's going through this, and you too. Nothing makes you feel more helpless than when your furbaby is suffering.

I just read this post for the first time. So sorry to hear about the problem with Briggs. I do hope the results are good and is something that is treatable.

The vet called with the lab results. He said it's the longest report he thinks he's ever gotten back. Her diagnosis is:
Extremely severe chronic eosinophilic preivascular dermatitis wih marked epiduermal hyperplasis, spongiosis with interepidremal eosinophilic micropustules. ... but when you sum it up... it's either mites that were missed in the slides of skin samples, or an allergy - a VERY severe allergy. But not deadly! Yay!
We got two samples of REVOLUTION treatment for mites - since her heartworm medication doesn't cover mites (Sentinel. It should take a month to see if it is mites and then it will be gone.
A food allergy is much more possible though. So we got a free bag of ZD Perscription Diet food (hypoallergenic). Which we should see reults from in about 8 weeks.
I have to keep her buster collar on her and put hydrogen peroxide on the lesions bbecause they have a slight infection.

BUT even though we have a LONG road a head of us... we know that it's not something that's deadly and we can overcome this, just need some time!

Thanks to those of you that have kept Briggs in your thoughts.

Sammie I am so happy that it is something that can be treated. Yeah for Briggs. I hope she sees some relief soon. Well this made a rainy Saturday a pretty good day. Give her a gentle hug and one for you. Keep us posted on how Briggs is doing

That sounds more like a description than a specific condition! Glad there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Look at it this way, while it seems a long time, each succeeding day should be better than the one before.

How is dog doing now? Is it over?

I have read your saga, and it reminds me a bit of mine but longer. I found your story because I did a search for "Sentinel" which is what has caused my dog's similar problems. Of course, I am now wondering if mites were really the cause? Did you find out? Is your dog fine now? If not, do you think Sentinel may be the cause? I have submitted a thread today where you can read my experience (Dec 15). In any case, I hope all is well - I know what it's like to have your life and your sleep disrupted by a suffering dog and how powerless you feel because you don't know what else to do about it or how to make the dog more comfortable.
