new here and saying hello

I registered some time ago and thought it was time i said hello to you all and make myself at home!

My name is Maxine i'm from Australia i am both a pet owner and a hobby breeder and trainer (in training myself). In relation to training apart from obedience i am in training and also training my first 6 month old puppy for SAR work (Search and Rescue).

Currently i only have dogs and cats in my menagirie but i do hope to get a few fish also... Between 3 of us at present we have 4 dogs living with us & currently 8 baby puppies which seem to waste my time in playing with them all day long. (1 pomeranian & 3 German Shepherds)

i also have a few dogs in pet breeders homes so they are classed as mine but also not if you know what i mean?

and re cats we have 2 (1 Birman and 1 ragdoll )

I will look around and post photos up as soon as i have looked around and find my way around the board! I hope to meet you and get to know you all and of course share the number one passion our pets!

hi, welcome to the forums,what exactly is a "hobby" breeder??? Makes it sound like breeding isn't a serious business *S*....yes we do have the love of our pets in common.

Hello Melinda, just to elaborate the difference in my eyes is that breeding isnt a business like an abn number... thus why i said hobby... it's a passion.. yes its serious but no it's not a business... i think there are way too many registered puppy mills from down where i reside and i've just picked up on saying hobby breeder .... rather then a breeder.

nope, not confusing at all !! Thank you for explaining it to me, I just wanted to make sure (in my round a bout way) that you weren't going to turn out to be a back yard breeder looking to make a quick buck *L* but nope, you answered the minute you said "not a business"

No Melinda.. DEFINATELY NOT!!! it angers me to see many registered breeders who just puppymill let alone unregistered!
i'm proud that i've got a prefix and that i've been asked to be a partner in training SAR dogs for Australia and NZ this is my honor.. and of course my dogs at the end of the day are my babies! they all get spoilt none are singled out and if i had 100acres i would never let them go but sometimes we have to... not that i like to! but thank you i like it when people ask questions and also like to know more.. i'm the same i get defensive too so i understand where you are coming from! ;D
