kitty spayed
I just got my cat spayed yesterday. Besides the normal side effects of the anesthesia, head bobbing, trouble balancing, her sides are sunken in. She is 8months old and 6.5lbs. She is a tall and narrow, her hips are only about 4" wide. She eats when shes hungry and we give her a lot of treats but she is very active. Should I be worried that her sides are sunken in after the spaying? Shes eating and drinking water and using the litter and finally able to walk around now, still a little wobbly, but she looks like a starved kitty.

Are you sure her sunken look isn't because they shaved her? They are so pathetic until the anesthesia wears off. As long as she is eating and drinking and staying away from the incision (no excessive licking), she should be fine.

Nope, no worries. It's normal. It's part of having her reproductive organs removed. In another couple of weeks she will be back to normal. It's happened with every single one of the gals I have had done.

She sunken in on both sides even where they didn't shave her. She cleans the incision and all around. Nothing more then she usually does. It just worried me because she is so thin. Hopefully now she will put some weight on = ) Thank you for your help.

You should try not to let her clean the incision too much. It should not be getting wet or irritated by a rough tongue. It could cause infection and she could also be working on getting the stitches out.
She will gain weight quickly. In another few months you will probably be wanting her to lose some.

I agree with 14+, don't let her lick her incision too much.
What I look for in my fosters are the following: Excessive redness or swelling from incision. Oozzing from the incision. Loss of appetite, or change in bathroom behaviours. Lack of energy. If all the above is normal, I don't worry too much. Good luck.
