We Saw For Miles and Miles
We left Calgary to head to Edmonton, on a clear day you can see the mountains
then when land as far as the eye could see..

Ah . . . . . I can't tell you how many times I've made that trip.
I can tell you pretty much where every one of those pictures is taken!!! I grew up along the highway in Innisfail, which you would have passed. Rick C www.goldentales.ca

I liked the first pic with the mountains but AB can have the rest.
I guess with the price of gas nowadays nobody is buying RV's. Glad you arrived safely in Edmonton. |

Holy cow--couldn't believe the traffic going the other way in that one picture!
The scenery reminds me a little of central Illinois...flat, then a little flat, and finally, some flat to flatten out the topography...

alot of those RV's will be sold this spring and summeryup, $$in Alberta. Only if you know the work and have the experience of course. We had a bumper sticker back in the late 70's early 80's something like this: Please God bring back the Boom, I promise I will not waste it away or something like that. you get the jist of it? pbp

For amusement, here are Calgary traffic web cams: http://www.calgarytraffic.com/ http://65.104.36.247/default.asp?dis...gary&TextOnly= http://www.weatherbonk.com/weather/c..._1131390941609 If you want to relive the Gondola ride, there's a Banff/Sulpher mountain live webcam at this address: http://www.canmorealberta.com/gallery/ Some of the latter shots are passing by Red Deer, near Blackfalds I believe. Beautiful countryside there, particularly heading out east to Pine Lake/Big Valley, etc, lots of small lakes, endless plains, rolling hills and very, very green in the summer. I was in Italy last year and the Bologna/Milan drive reminded me of the Edmonton/Calgary trek. Very similar terrain. Green grass will be showing up in a few weeks. Leaves on the trees in the first week of May. Rick C www.goldentales.ca

You'll be paralyzed with endless flatness as you drive east from that line, across Saskatchewan and most of Manitoba . . . . . about 750 miles from Calgary to Winnipeg of mostly flat, fairly arid, farmland, about a 15 hour drive. But just forty minutes or so west of Calgary are the Rockies. And five hours west of Edmonton. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Prairies Even though I spend a lot of time with Abby and Keeper marching in the Rockies, I love the prairie, probably even more. A few things on Youtube to help out would be Paul Brandt's "Alberta Bound" video, filmed in various locations in southwestern Alberta, Terry Clarke's "Gasoline" video, filmed near Longview and Mossleigh, and Nickelback's "Photograph," filmed in the Hanna area where the members of that band went to High School. Can't wait for summer. Rick C www.goldentales.ca
