Hello, it's been a while
Haven't been on pets in a loooong time so I just wanted to pop in and say hi. Haven't been spending nearly as much time online as I used to. Some changes in my life, mostly good. Still running dogs, training and racing. I've been racing 4 dogs, my daughter 2 or 3 plus skijoring. Sometimes I run all 7 together on training runs. Lots of fun!
This winter has not been a good season for the races, not enough snow forced some to be canceled but we did get a couple of races in and lots of training miles. Most recent run was a fun 16 miles with 7 dogs hooked up, up in Algonquin Park. Their dogsled trails are so beautiful I've also had the chance this year to learn more about distance mushing and help out a bit with a distance team. Went along riding in the sled behind a team of 12 on a few 4-5 hour training runs and also got to drive a smaller team of 6 on one of those runs. One thing I discovered is that sitting still in a sled for 4 1/2 hours on a nighttime run at -20 is much colder than driving the team yourself! Brrrr!!! Dressed warmer the next time. I didn't know I could fit so many layers on me and still move
