Need some advice!

I wrote about this before but my cat has small black dos on his lips. I have removed all of his plastic bowls (except for one water fountain bowl which is plastic but I do wash it all the time).

Should I take him to the vet? Or am I being too worried about nothing?

There is nothing wrong with having him checked, just to ease your mind.

I took my cat in a couple of years ago when I noticed brown spots on her lips and nose. I don't use plastic bowls. Found out that they were actually freckles. She is a buff brown tabby. I was shocked when I was told that they get freckles. I went for a second opinion. Both vets told me this.

Do you have pics of them? The spots that is.

I will try to get some pictures of them and post them. Thank you for the reply! So can cats develop freckles then because he hasn't always had them?

The vets had told me that they usually appear when they get a bit older. Winnie was about 4 when she started getting them. They explained that it is like humans who develope freckles.

I've had cream coloured cats that had freckles on their nose and lips. They did develop them when they got older. I've also had cats that developed feline acne, on the chin, which looks like a black waxy substance that can be picked off. If it's feline acne, it can get infected by the cat scratching it, should be seen by a vet.

When my guy turned 4 or so he started getting black dots on his nose and lips. I got worries and took him to the vet, turns our they are freckles sicne then he has gotten a few more of these and even one of his whiskers is black now (he is an orange tabby..).

My vet said that a good way to see if its something towrry about or not is to feel and look at the 'texture/surface' if its the same as the rest of the lip or nose and its just he color that is different, then all is ok. If you notice that the black spots/dots correspond to a different texture in that area, then better to have it checked out.

I love kitty freckeles...

Have you posted a picture of his chin anywhere? That may help to figure it out too.

Winnie has gotten more also. They are now on the inside of the lips.

That's also what the vets said to me Masha. They said if it's smooth to the touch with no bumps, then it's ok. They used my freckles as an example.

They also said it's pretty common in orange/buff brown tabbies.

Kalou, are they smooth to the touch?

Do you have zoom on your camera? LOL. It was hard to see them.

But what I could see of it, it does look like freckles. And considering he is orange, I don't doubt that they are.

Winnie hates when the camera comes out, so it's hard to take pics. She has alot of freckles.

I can imagine how happy your kitty was during this photoshoot

I suggest that next time your kitty goes for the annual checkup/vaccines to ask the vet to take a quick look -- it will be free and give u peace of mind, but it looks like what my guy has
