Question Found Lump on Dogs Leg

My dog Duke is an 11 month old Lab/Shepard mix and he is about 110lbs.

I just discovered a lump on the joint of one of his back legs. It is about 2 inches round, is on the very back of the leg. Seems pretty hard to the touch and doesn't move around. But doesn't seem to be painful to the touch. It seems to be making it more difficult for him to walk. He had parvo as a puppy as well.

Should I take him to a vet asap?

Can he wait 5 days before going to the vet?

What are the chances this is cancerous?

Also I noticed he was having some trouble walking, a small limp before finding the lump, so it may have developed.

If you want to see a picture, please let me know, and I will email one to you.

Thank you for all your help,

Sincerely,

Scared loving dog owner.

Hi, nickmcpher.

Any chance your dog was recently (within the past 2 or 3 weeks) vaccinated behind that leg, near that spot?

nope his last booster was a while back now, however, I can recall him hurting one of his legs after jumping off of the bed, but that was a while ago, and i'm not sure if it was that leg.

Honestly, if it's a new lump, and it seems to be making him limp, I'd take him to the vet as soon as you can. It isn't necessarily a cancer, but it could be some joint damage from an injury he got while playing. I got blindsided by wrestling dogs on the side of a knee once and ended up with a lump on the opposite side where the sinovial fluid had leaked out of the knee joint. It might be something like that. But it bears checking out for sure, especially given the limp.

Oh, and welcome to the board, nickmcpher. After you get your buddy checked out and on the mend, we'll expect some pictures of him! (We can get pretty demanding for pictures of furbabies--we're all big fans of pictures! )
