Dog doesn't gain weight

My dog eats a ton of food and is healthy, but never seems to gain weight. He's not deathy skinny or anything, but I can see some ribs. Ive asked my vet and he says theres nothing wrong with him. Is there anything that I can feed him (home made or packaged) that might get his weight up? He's already 85 pounds, but skinny.

If the vet says he's fine, he's eating fine and his weight is fine...let it go.

Personally I would not try to get this dog to fatten up. You could muck up his metabolism now and for the future.

I will assume he's a young energetic dog?
What breed and how old?

In most breeds, it's desirable to see (or feel) the ribs a bit.
I have three Rottweilers and can see their ribs when they are running, or their bodies are extended.
Probably most dogs in the US are overweight....look at photos of working dogs in top condition, they are usually very lean.

I was just a bit concerned because its even when hes not running or anything. Its like hes not filling out his skin, especially around the neck and chest area. You can even see a bit of his spine coming through on his back. Is that normal? This is my first dog so im really not sure what to expect. Hes a very energetic 11 month old apbt, but should he still have so much loose skin at this point?
Thanks.
