As for why they're called painted turtles I think it refers to their underside? I did pick one up that was cruising up the driveway and had a good look. They have quite a bit of colour underneath and on their legs, tail and head
Ok thanks I was wondering why they got that name , I will see if I can find a painted turtle belly online .
