Giving your pet unprescribed medication

Quite often you'll hear someone recommend that you give your pet a specific type of medication because it works for thier pet. Please, do not follow the well-intentioned advice unless you know what thier illness is and a vet appoves the administration of the medication.

While some medicines can ease the symptoms to make your pet more comfortable, it can also mask the symptoms so you think the underlying causes have gone. In as little as a couple of days your pet may appear to be "cured". This may not be the case.

Denying your pet the proper vet care he/she needs can cause the problem to grow and cause undo stress for your loved one.

So please, discuss your pet's condition with a vet BEFORE administering any medications.
