I concur with Raingirl - get a lawyer and go after then quietly collecting evidence. You may even find out they have done this before!!
I am so sorry to hear about your dog - and the cats!!! How horrible for all of you! My heart goes out to you! I wish you lived closer - I;d sneak her in for a scan, <g>
