I too thought that a lawsuit would be a great idea, especially to get them to answer for what they did....however, when I consulted a lawyer (who actually does deal in all kinds of abuse cases) I was told that I would be wasting my time and money to try to pursue this, and the reason is, and it actually does make sense, I have absolutely NO proof as to what happened.....The lawyer went as far as to talk to my vet to see if there was ANY signs that they saw of abuse, (lumps, brusing, etc) and the vet said that the biggest problem is that there are no outward signs of abuse, and even with the howling, I can't prove that anyone at the kennel did anything deliberately. Also I haven't been able to get any one at the kennel to tell me what really happened. I have my ad in the paper still and am hoping for a call, I have not had one yet, but I'm keeping my finger's crossed that someone who know's something about what went on or had a similar experience will contact me. The lawyer did say that if we did find ANY kinds of signs of abuse at all, he would be more than happy to give me all the help that he could (he's an animal lover too, and was horrified at what my poor pupper has gone through)
The good news is that she seems to be getting back more to her old self again everyday she's a little better, she is now almost back to her usual (pain in the butt, but in a good way) self. The only thing now that is kind of "leftover" if you will is that she still seems to need to howl, and bark, though not as much as she did before (thank God)...the neighbours have so far been really understanding.
There is one kind of strange thing that is now happening though but it's with one of my cat's.....everytime my Stinker howls, my little black panther cat Trouble growls (and I mean growls....like a dog growl) it's the weirdest thing I've ever heard from a cat....I mean I've heard them meow, hiss, spit, purr, etc etc....but I've never had one that actually growled before, and only when the dog is howling....Oh well, it sure could be worse!!
