We do give probiotics--just the acidopholus for humans, mostly. We'll split 3 capsules across the dogs' 8 food bowls and it really does seem to help a lot--very consistent stools since we've started! If we need to dose any of the dogs with antibiotics, we'll increase how much probiotic they get--some of it is wiped out by the antibiotics, but they get enough of it so that they don't develop the horrible diarrhea they used to get when on certain meds. Not sure if there are any studies, but experience has convinced us that probiotics make a big difference!
