And don't forget the whale watching tours out of Steveston too. Check out http://www.vancouverwhalewatch.com/ It takes you into the Straits of Georgia over to San Juan island just off Victoria. Very cool trip, 4-5 hours I think - we've done it a few times now. The zodiacs are the best mode of transportation, but you can also go in a pontoon type boat that's covered.
If you do Capilano Suspension and Grouse Mtn., don't forget the Cleveland Dam right in the middle of them. There's a fish sanctuary there too.
If you will have access to a vehicle, you can also drive up Cypress Mtn. or Seymour Mtn. - fantastic views there too.
Downtown Vancouver has Gastown, a historic part of Vancouver, cobblestone road and an old steam clock. The Alaska cruise ship port is not from there also. Then there's Chinatown and the Dr. Sun Yat Sen chinese classical garden. Granville island has some nifty shops and is also the home of the Emily Carr Institute of Fine Arts. You can take sea bus tour for dirt cheap of the Burrard Inlet. Oh, and Science World is there too.
Hope this helps and you're gonna love Vancouver and the mountains.
