I cut my images down to about 900 x 600 pixels (or thereabouts) before posting. That seems to be a good compromise for image quality / absolute size, so they're easy to upload and look okay on the screen. (On my screen, anyway
If someone was viewing with their browser set for less resolution, say 800 x 600, they'd have to scroll either way to get the extreme edges to show.
