My guess and that is all it is because I do not know your whole story - is that it is a combination of factors. If the physical symptoms continue, I would bring her to a vet as soon as possible. If not, she may well be mourning her friend - and cats do indeed mourn those who leave. They are sometimes lost without them, sometimes even refuse to eat which is a real danger to cats - as is loss of nutrition - which is why if she continues to be ill she needs to see a vet!! Add in a new kitten which is yet another change in her life and I would say she is suffering both grief AND stress- cats are easily stressed and this kitty needs lots of extra TLC after losing a cat she was close to.

Just my thougts - but please rule out any physical problems!
