I see no way that oatmeal would hurt a cat. As long as you don't add anything to it that a cat would be allergic too or something, theres not really a problem. My cats eat cereal all the time. I don't exactly feed it to them but they want the milk and will eat some of the cereal too.
The worst I could imagine is if it didn't settle right and your cat coughed it up...
