IMHA Treatment

Hello,

My 8.5 year old Puli was diagnosed with IMHA about 6 months ago. He was treated with a blood transfusion and put on Prednisone (3mg/day) and Atopica (300mg/day) and has been on them ever since. I have incorporated some Chinese herbs, Melatonin, Vitamin C, fish oils, Milk-thistle, pro-biotics, and iron into his diet also. His red blood count is under control, however the side effects of the drugs are starting to take a toll on him.

I have been doing research and it seems that CBD oil is used in many cases as an immune suppressant, and if it is effective could be a healthy alternative to his current medication. I live in Canada and there are products on the market for dogs, and the individual selling the product explained that it is used in humans as an effective substitute for Prednisone.

I was hoping for some advice on the transition from Prednisone and Atopica to CBD in order to do it safely.

If anyone has any experience with this please share.
Thx,
N

Nothing personally but there's a old thread that Dr. Lee added some great info.

I would love to hear progress on how your pup does on CBD. It's working some wonders in many patients both human and animal.

Have a look at this old thread. I am pretty sure that Dr Dodds is still doing work in this area. I will never forget the valiant battle of Sway :angel2:
