I'm here to tell you about the absolute serendipity of owning Shiba Inus.
 

The title is a big fat lie. Getting together with other Shiba owners sometimes has more in common with those "parenting difficult children" support groups. If it's cute, fuzzy and looks like a little fox with a curled tail, throw it your sushi and run!

Hi, my name is Julie and a few of you might know me as the owner/handler of The Misanthropic Shiba blog/website. I live in Nanaimo BC and also run NanaimoDogParks.ca, a website dedicated to (surprise!) Nanaimo's dog parks and issues affecting Nanaimo dog owners.

I was previously owned by a female Shiba, Shassi by name, and am now owned by Tierce, a male Shiba who blew my blissful notions of 'knowing all about Shiba ownership' right out of the water. Fortunately, due to a couple of awesome breeders - this is why you buy from a good breeder! - he got straightened out in record time.

Anyway, nice to meet all of you and I hope that I'm going to become a regular contributor to this board!

They are cute dogs but that's all I know about them. I've seen one around town and it looks like the sweetest thing, love their faces. Welcome to the board..love to find out more from you about your dogs!!

A couple in the condo building where I work have a Shiba. Myself and the other girl in the office have been completely infatuated with her since the first day they got her. They have such expressive faces, and the funniest personalities! :)
