Portugesse Water Dog Rescue Groups?

Does anyone know of any Portugesse water dog rescue groups in Europe or North America? (I couldn't find any on Petfinders)

There's a Portugeese water dog about to get euthanized in Portugal, which is a shame, when I know they are in HUGE demand here in North America since Obama took one.

If anyone knows of a Portugesse water dog rescue, let me know.

Here is something interesting in the US:

Portuguese Water Dog: National: Mary Harkins (610) 346-9370 PWDCA Rescue & Relocation National Coordinator, Coopersburg, PA

It's funny how regional demands work, in California Chi's and other purse dogs are filling the shelters and being put down, so organizations bail them out and take then North to upper USA and Canada and are adopted before they touch down on the tar mat.

Good job trying to get the word about about this guy before it's too late, unusual and popular breeds are lucky they have improved chances or getting a second chance when someone is willing to help out.:thumbs up

I called Mary, I got her voicemail so I sent her an email. I hope she can help! :fingerscr

I hope so, too :goodvibes:

How would they get the dog(s) here from Portugal? Is it difficult to do an international transfer that way?

The email bounced back!

No, it's not difficult to bring a dog from overseas to North America.

My friend did it when she went to Tawain, she brought back two dogs that she rescued. You have to get them fully vacinated and vet papers to prove their healthy. Of course, you need an airport cage.

Did you try the other name listed for the rescue arm of the club, poodletalk? :fingerscr
