It's such a problem in Quebec.

I rescued a cat that my mail carrier said was left behind by his owner. The poor cat was left behind just as winter was coming. He went to a no kill cat shelter and found a new home.

So what's the general feeling in the province? Much as I wish rental properties were more pet-friendly, there is a lot more wear-and-tear and, sometimes, damage that can occur on a property when pets are present--even if the pet-owner is responsible and the pets aren't prone to anxiety- or boredom-induced destructive behavior. None of ours are destructive in the house, but there are a lot more scratches on woodwork and floors than there would be if we didn't have the Pack. If rent and security deposits went up in response, would renters be okay with that? Especially low-income renters who don't have pets?

In Ontario I would say we are pretty liberal. I think there is a rental law that says you cannot discriminate but there are many places you cannot have pets.

Once you have been granted permission to rent with pets the only way they van get rid of you is if you have too many. Otherwise they cant get rid of you unless you pet is a nuisance or a risk.

Marko can you explain to me why people can only move on July 1st. I only heard of this via this website since many people are from Montreal. Here in Ontario when you move out or your lease is completed you leave and they rent out to the next person. If that person moves in in October lets say their lease then starts in October.

It must be caos in Montreal on July 1st. I bet there are many movers...

It seems so restrictive but I dont understand why.
