guinea pigs okay outside during winter?
I was planning on taking our guinea pigs inside for summer, but now it would be better for me if they stayed outside - but what is best for the pigs??
They are in a wooden hutch with a cover around it and Id have plenty of straw in the bedding area, is this okay?? |
I am not sure what you're going to do now with guinea pigs your title said " GP oaky outside during winter " and your post said "bring the pigs inside for the summer " .

How cold does it get in winter where you are, cathy? I'm not sure what kind of cold guinea pigs can take... Do they have a vet that you could ask?

It can go down to minus 5 celcius I can look at insulating the hutch a bit more, and making sure they have plenty of bedding to bury in to... |
I found this on a care site:
Whatever room you use, maintain the temperature at 65-75 degrees to minimize the risk of respiratory disease.
I don't think guinea pigs do well in cold weather. Probably best to keep them inside in the winter. |
