Books on Pet Loss
What are some good books on pet loss? I want to read one to help me cope with the loss of my kitty. I have never lost a pet like this and it is really hard on me.

I haven't read it personally, but have heard good things about this one :
Saying Good-Bye to the Pet You Love: A Complete Resource to Help You Heal by Lori A Greene |
A really good book on dealing with the death of a pet is by Dr. Wallace Sife, the founder of the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764579304/drwallysife There's also a list on the APLB website of other books on the same subject: http://aplb.org/resources/books.html
And I highly recommend checking out the chat room at the APLB: http://aplb.org/chat/ They are hosted several times a week by counsellors trained specifically in coping with pet loss. If anyone understands what you're going through, they do. |
Thanks so much. I will have to check out the chat and the books as well. My heart is so heavy right now and I just do not know how to feel or what to do about it.

If you want something like a work of fiction, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein will warm your hearts.
It was titled "Goodbye, Friend: Healing Wisdom for Anyone Who Has Ever Lost a Pet"
By: Gary Kowalski
It has nice reviews in Goodreads. I'll try to search an ebook for my Kindle. |
