My Iris Folding 'Cat Cards',I am very new at this.
I know many people have posted their beautiful scrap book pages, and I thought I would show you the "Iris Folding' Cat cards I am TRYING to make.
They are NOT great, I didn't even put words on the front, but here they are. my first one, my second 'attempt' my last one. I am having 'posting regret',oh well.... I just made these two new ones on Monday. Very pretty...nice work...I am not crafty at all...so admire anyone who can do things like this
|
Thanks, I am not good at even making those 'homemade card packages',
but, I found a 'cat related pattern',.... and I can't resist 'cat stuff'.:) |
I love the middle one!
|
I think you did a great job on all of them, Tig's mom! Are they done in paper or cloth? Hard to tell, but I'd love to be able to reach into the screen and touch one to find out :D Very nice!
|
Thanks, They are all folded paper except the brown/bronzy one. I used 'wrapping paper ribbon', I used both sides to get two colors. It's hard to find paper in the colors I wanted. The 'frames' and some of the outside stuff is regular cloth/satin ribbon on all of them though.
|
WOW ....they all look great. :thumbs up
I've never seen anything like that before ....where did you get the idea? Do they take long to do? :) |
My friend is on a scrap book forum, and I was looking at the 'other paper crafts' section, and saw some really beautiful 'Iris Folding' projects. They had instructions and a 'free pattern' section, (it had a cat to do), so I printed it off, and tried it.
I found a kind of 'really fast YouTube, and it actually of the cat I did. I don't do the folds that way, they have other ways to fold the paper, but this is the general idea.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCgz1pWd5aI&feature=related I wasn't sure how to name the link, or which button to use,:sorry::confused: I am struggling with posting graphics, and stuff here) I have a '100 post thread' in 'Tech help? or Tech talk?) I am so greatful to those who helped me. :) Hope it's ok to leave the link the way I did it. |
Those are beautiful! And of course I love them because they are my favourite thing!! :cloud9: It's so neat how you can make something beautiful out of every day things. :thumbs up
|
I think your cards are awesome, I especially like the pink one, the little wiskers are too cute.
I think you did a wonderful job, and I think it looks like a very fun craft to do. |
I like them all , but i like the second one the best, i think because of the dark colors. :)
Do you have the website address or link of the forum you got the ideas from ? :thumbs up nice job. |
Oh wow, those are gorgeous! I love the pink one.
|
Oh my goodness thank you for sharing, I really, REALLY want to try this.
|
I really think it is kind of fun, and you can resize the cat template.
It's not hard, they have You Tube tutorials. The one I posted was the fastest one. I am happy you , and maybe others will use it. I am not good at scrap booking, and can't knitt or do those kind of things. I can fold paper and use tape though, That is my kind of crafting.:) |
Tig's mom - if you like folding paper, you should try origami. There are some really beautiful designs out there, sometimes the simplest ones are the prettiest. I know a gorgeous one for folding a dove that is mostly just folding the paper in half over and over.

You put your thread in the right spot Tig's Mom and are doing a fantastic job with the picture posting! :thumbs up
All of those are absolutely stunning! Are they like greeting cards Tig's Mom? I like the first one and last one. The cloth/ribbon edging really makes the design pop! :) |
Ohhh the last two are absolutely gorgeous!
Sooooooo.....when will I get one in my mailbox?;)....:D |

The cloth/ribbon edging really makes the design pop! :)
Thanks, I am glad you like them.:) They are cards, but are blank inside.(just those plain white dollar store ones.I glued the 'Cat Iris fold part on top,of the 'non white ones', and trim the card to fit it. I have a lot of scrap book paper, but find it really thick.I actually painted the bronzey looking one, it used to be red paper.I also have tons of ribbon,:) I used to make ATCs.(artist trading cards, and swaped them with some people from the USA, so did my scrap booking friend. We have not had a swap for almost a year, and I did get tired of doing it.I have two new cat Iris folding patterns. I found from that link I posted. I may try making a few of those.I still never know what to say on the front of the cards, so I leave them with out any text. |
Ohhh the last two are absolutely gorgeous!
Sooooooo.....when will I get one in my mailbox?;)....:D
:) Just say when, and where, and which one you would like. (only if you want),I don't want to make you feel obligated. I am not good at text though, so the inside would not be 'fancy'. :) |
I wish I could download video cuz even with the pattern, I can't for the life of me picture how you do that!!! I was never good at cutting, pasting, or folding and glue always ended up in my hair :o

I have been doing a few more Iris foldiing cards, and made sort of a mini book

I still like making the cat ones the best.:) |

Why do you want to remove the ones that aren't cats? Please don't. They are all beautiful expressions of your abilities. :thumbs up
