Vet Recommendations? (Oshawa, Whitby ON)

This might be a little specific, but can anyone recommend a vet in the Oshawa/Whitby area?

I'm getting a puppy in about a week, less actually. I have a list of vets and I plan to call around, but technically a vet can tell you anything over the phone. I've worked at a rescue, so I also plan to ask the owners where she takes her animals, and I will ask my close friends as well. I've seen bad reviews for some, none for others.

Right now I just need a reliable place to get my puppy's shots. Don't want to pay crazy prices, and don't want to be tricked into paying for more then I came for. After this, I can look around if I'm not satisfied with the overall service.

So can anyone recommend somewhere I should try?
Thank you! :dog:

Lorenn, we use Claremont Vet which is up in Claremont just north of Pickering and we are in Oshawa....she is a country vet and her prices are pretty good...which rescue are you getting your puppy from?
Michelle is good with her prices and she will do only what you ask.
There is a really good and cheap vet in Port Hope but they will only take on new patients if you live in Port Hope...folks were coming out there from Toronto, they were so reasonable and by the time I heard of them they had the "hometown" rule.

Thank you both. I found two more vets I might call from the site.

Shirley, thank you. Claremont is a little far (though I DO spend my days in Pickering), but I will consider it. Do you have any contact information?

I am not getting my puppy from the rescue, I just worked there for almost five years. :P I checked the rescue for dogs of course, but just didn't find a match. The puppy is coming from Brantford, so the vet will be too far.

And too bad the one in Port Hope is in.. Port Hope. :( Lol

I don't know any in Oshawa but at Kennedy and Eglinton Ave. East there is a great clinic for all shots really reasonable and the vet is great. Dr. Badri. He also has a mobile service he is very kind and cares about the animals not so much about the money. He has a clinic in downtown Toronto as well which is also an emergency clinic and they do not gouge you

vet recommendation

I highly recommend Baker Animal Clinic on Dundas Street East, between Whitby and Oshawa. We have been taking our dogs there for 7 years now. They are great and really care about our pets. When we had a serious and complicated health issue with one of our dogs, Dr. Sutherland went above and beyond to help him. They may not be the cheapest, but in my view I would rather have the best care for my pets. I trust their experience and knowledge. They have good hours and are open on Saturdays. I believe the number is 905-571-3700.
