My cat never used to be afraid if my husband?!?!

So I've been living with my husband for almost a year now. An my little pretty kitty, had no issue with him. She loved him. Well I was arrested couple months ago and was gone for 60 days, and ever since I left to now she has acted like she is terrified of him and hates him. When he walks in the room she runs an hides. When he isn't in the room she is all lovely with me. But as soon as she hears him. Shes gone. He is so sweet to her, tries to play and or give her Lovings she growls and hisses. He has tried everything to get her to like him again and nothing ! Help

Sometimes a cat will see or hear something that disturbs them and they'll redirect their frustration/aggression to a person or another pet. I wonder if that's what happened while you were gone--she was already upset by your absence, something occurred to upset her more, and she redirected all the bad feelings at your husband.

I have no experience with the phenomenon, myself, but I know of people who have had success in overcoming the problem with sheer patience. Let her come to him when she's ready. Have him sit quietly, ignoring her, and maybe reading out loud or having a soft conversation with you. No sudden movements or loud noises. He might also want to be the one filling her food bowls, so she associates him with good things. I've been told it can be a very long process, but patience should pay off in the end.

Maybe someone who's dealt with the problem will chime in with some more advice. :fingerscr
