For you people out there with the power chewers...what are your favorite toys???

I have two Staffies...so far I have a nylabone Galileo that's lasted a long time....the black Kongs xxl...they last, the smaller ones get torn up this big black nylabone thing and I want to get a Boomer ball...


Their fav toys are balls and sticks..when I see really cheap basket balls or soccer balls I always buy a few...even the good quality balls I come accross are only good for about 8 seconds (not exagerating) but the dogs like to play around with the popped balls anyways...other then that...the eat my apple tree alot.... :(

Not sure if your in Canada but we have Canadian Tire ( hardware/outdoor) that sells these bright orange plastic balls that are VERY durable. Our GSD goes through everything we buy but these seem to really last...maybe you could try a hardware store?

any light plastic toys (even frisbees) last a whopping 3 min w/ my dog. he just tears through them. although we do have a few nice plush toys that are MY TOYS. my dog is only allowed to play w/ them WITH me, and knows he's not allowed to shred them up. Obviously, these types of toys are not left out, they get put away when not in use.

I have an APBT and he really loves rope toys... He has about 4 of them... one really long with 3 or 4 knots, a really short one that is about bone length, one with a ball attached to it and another with a rubber tire (like kong strength) attached to it.

He seems to like the long ropes the best and we have replaced them several times as he works on the knots and eventually they will fray.

Galileo bones and the black kongs work for our 2 shepherds. They love stuffed toys though, so we get [URL="http://www.edogtoy.com/retail/index.php"]Tuffies[/URL] stuffed toys, they last a while but get ripped open eventually. They also have a couple of [URL="http://www.bizrate.com/dogsupplies/oid24873388__nwylf--.html"]"Almost Indestructible" balls[/URL] which we've had for years, and they are still intact!

At the shelter we have a [URL="http://www.animalbehaviorassociates.com/toys-tug-a-jug.htm"]"tug-a-jug"[/URL] treat dispensing toy which I tested by giving to the strongest pit bull in the kennel, and it's held up amazingly well (the dog loves it too.) The only problem is it is difficult to wash.

I bought the Galileo bone in Halifax when we were there last month. My Eskimo weighs 20 lbs. so of course I got him the SOUPER bone! The medium size info read that it was for dogs up to 50 lbs. Well my guy might only way 20 lbs. but Eskies have the claws and jaws of death. He absolutely adores it - chews away at it while holding it in his hand-like paws. We only had carry-on luggage so I left it in the original packaging and watched the faces of security as it scanned. There were a bit mystified. When we opened my suitcase the security guard recognized the bone. I also have a couple of West Paws' ZogoFlex bone toys and the Ball that has the teeth imprints in it -and of course the Black Kong - and the large Green and White Nylabone with the bumps on it.

I have the same issue with Ryder, basketballs ect only last a matter of seconds in fact he gets a new one and he makes of point of trying to pop it as fast as he can.

The best ball I have ever found is the Jolly Ball, it started off as a toy for horses, we found his 1st one over 2 years ago at a feed and tack store but now they are making a couple different size ones for dogs!

his first one lasted 2 years before it broke down enough from wear and tear and the sun and elements. We just got him his second one for his last birthday in April. It was under $20.00 including taxes and well worth it!
Got this lastest one from PetSmart.

He loves it and you cannot deflate it even when he ripped a gaping hole in his last one at the end it still held it's shape!

My dog Misery loves those thinner plastic balls as well but again they last a very short time. I went out and spent 7$ on one of the really big ones and it only lasted for one throw so now I make a point of yardsale-ing to find cheaper toys for her as she loves getting the squeakie out of toys as well. The best one I've found has lasted 6 months so far and was a 10cent little baby doll toy. She loves it.

Are these orange balls in the pet dept. or the sports dept. and how big are they?

They are road hockey balls and are available in the sport section. About the size of a tennis ball (just barely fit into a chuck-it). Usually around $1 per ball. Sears and walmart also carry them.

Riley can destroy them pretty easily. He totally loves them and he gets them when out walking etc but when I come home I need to take them away or else he destroys them in about 5-10 min.

I have found these pretty impressive though. He's had them for a few months now and still fully intact :thumbs up . I think I paid about $7 for a set of two.

The road hockey balls only last tille one of them starts chewing on them....

I got one of the Jolly balls, but it only lasted about 15 minutes...the guy at petsmart was like yeah these balls are great their so strong...my rottie has had one for like 6 months...as soon as my dogs realised they could chew the handle...it was gone :P

but I'm gonna try out a few of the things you guys mentioned...I went to a local Zoo and they have these white tigers and they have the boomer balls to play with...I asked them how much the balls were and they said they would order me one next time they get some...gonna cost 60$...they said their tigers may get through one or two in a year...but the bears tear them up pretty quick...I they can may be good for staffies :P

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm going to try some of these for my toy destroyer.
