hi. i'm new to the forum thing. i am the new 'step mom' to a bassett hound named droopy. he loves me. i was told to stay away from the dog when i first meet him but after staying the night with his 'dad' droopy loved me. so what do i need to know about bassett hounds?:confused:

Welcome to the forum. Why would they want you to stay away from the dog....with that squishy face who can stay away. All you want to do is kiss it!

Bassets - well they are stubborn and should never be off leash for starters. They are known as the clown of dogs. Great with children normally and very easy going. They do follow their noses and can wonder off if left off leash. They are not easy to recall as once they get a scent - they can no longer hear you.

They are adorable dogs and once you know one of them - you are hooked onto this breed. Such loving dogs.

I don't know too much about bassetts other then my new neighbor has one and she's absolutely down right cute! :lovestruck:

Can't wait to see pictures of droopy soon! Droopy would have made a nice name for an eighth dwarf for Snow White! :D
